Position Description:

Part-time, 25 hours per week on the Cattaraugus County Campus, performs public service duties and technical operations relating to circulation, interlibrary loan, and other areas as assigned.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for assisting patrons in the circulation and use general of library materials, including checking print materials in/out, study room scheduling, and the basic use of library technology (computers, copiers, printers, peripheral devices, etc.).
  • Responsible for the hiring, training, and supervising of 3-4 student workers and with the training and orientation of new librarians in circulation functions.
  • Assists with a wide variety of tasks designed to facilitate the smooth and efficient operation of the library, including scheduling, clerical and administrative support, inventory of supplies, opening and closing the library, recordkeeping, and the processing of fines and copier fees.
  • Provides support to reference librarians in the performance of their essential functions.
  • Responsible for the enforcement of library policies and procedures.  
  • Responsible for processing of library reserve materials and maintenance of the periodical collection. 
  • Responsible for stack maintenance of all library collections, including shelf-reading assignments and the withdrawal of print materials. 
  • Facilitates interlibrary loan services.
  • Gathers and maintains statistics.

Qualifications:

Required: Associates degree and three years relevant experience in a library setting; proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite; demonstrable proficiency in written and oral communication.

Preferred: Bachelorís degree; relevant experience in an academic library setting; supervisory experience; and demonstrable knowledge and skills with current computer systems/software.

Additional Information:

Salary:  $15.60 - $16.60/hour, commensurate with qualifications and experience, plus excellent benefits package.
