Position Description:

Full-time, 10 months/year, 35 hours/week. Responsible for the implementation of a variety of health-related services and programs for students and employees and provides day-to-day oversight for functions of the Wellness center. Assists with long-range planning including preparation of goals, objectives, budgets, and reports for the Wellness Center.

Essential Functions:

  1. Provides clinical nursing services for students and employees, including but not limited to first aid, health counseling, and referrals.
  2. Advises students of NYS immunization requirements and assists with the collection and recording of data.
  3. Assists with the implementation, collection, and review of confidential nursing student and faculty physical examination documents and determines eligibility for clinical practice.
  4. Assists with the implementation of student and employee wellness programs.
  5. Assists with oversight of day-to-day activities of the Wellness Center Assistant.
  6. May be called upon to provide educational seminars on health-related/wellness issues.
  7. Teaches classes as a Certified CPR/AED/First Aid instructor on all campus sites, as needed or assigned.
  8. Supports Human Resources and Buildings and Grounds with implementation of the following:
    • New York State (NYS) Right to Know and Federal Hazard Communication laws
    • Blood-borne Pathogen Exposure Control Plan
    • Tuberculosis Control Plan
    • NYS Department of Health Infection Control regulations, and
    • Chemical Hygiene Plan
  9. Assists with the formulation and implementation of policies and educational programs.
  10. Provide oversight for other campus Wellness Centers in the absence of the RN.
  11. Some travel to extension sites and secondary JCC Wellness Center is expected

  7. Demonstrated ability to instruct others, both individually and in groups, on health and wellness-related topics

Qualifications:

Required: AAS degree in Nursing and licensed in New York State plus a minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience. Public health knowledge and experience in community health nursing. Current CPR certification. Must be a certified CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor or obtain certification in CPR/AED/First Aid by no later than the end of the first six (6) months of employment.

Ability and willingness to travel to other JCC sites.

Preferred: BSN degree. Experience in phlebotomy.

Additional Information:

Salary: $26.47 - $33.00/hour. Excellent benefits package, including medical and dental insurance, paid vacation and sick leave, and NYS retirement.
