Position Description: Full-time-12 month. The Director of Campus Life & Programming is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and assessment of co-curricular programs and activities that enhance student engagement, community building, and personal growth. This role involves strategic planning, collaboration with various stakeholders, and fostering a vibrant campus culture.

Essential Functions:

  1. Program Development and Management:
    • Design, implement, and evaluate a diverse range of programs and events that promote student involvement, leadership development, cultural awareness, and connection to the broader community.
    • Ensure programs are inclusive, accessible, and reflective of the student body.
    • Develop, organize, and implement new student orientation programs, to include online orientation, at the beginning of each semester.
  2. Leadership and Supervision:
    • Hire, supervise and mentor student leaders and volunteers.
    • Coordinate a robust student leadership program to include oversight of all student government activities and programming
    • Foster an environment of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
  3. Budget Management:
    • Develop and manage the budget for Campus Life and Programming budgets, ensure effective allocation of resources for maximum impact.
    • Identify and pursue funding opportunities, including grants and sponsorships for areas within campus life and programming.
  4. Collaboration and Partnerships:
    • Build and maintain relationships with campus departments, student organizations, and external partners to enhance programming efforts.
    • Collaborate with academic departments to integrate co-curricular activities with academic learning.
  5. Student Engagement:
    • Coordinate with marketing to promote student involvement in campus life.
    • Encourage community service and civic engagement among students, fostering a sense of responsibility and connection to the broader community.
  6. Training and Development:
    • Organize training workshops and professional development opportunities for student leaders and staff.
    • Stay current with trends in higher education and student affairs to inform best practices in programming.
  7. Assessment and Reporting:
    • Collect and analyze data on program participation and effectiveness; prepare reports for university leadership and use feedback to continuously improve programs and initiatives.
  8. Manage the JCC food pantry.

Qualifications:

Required: Bachelors’ degree in relevant field. Minimum of three (3) years of professional or managerial experience in related field. Demonstrated experience managing budgets and resources effectively and ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, and community partners. Valid driver’s license and excellent computer skills required. Must be willing to work on a flexible schedule since some activities will fall outside of normal working hours, including weekends. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, enthusiasm, positive attitude, initiative, and the ability to motivate others.

Preferred: Master’s degree in student personnel or related field. Experience in program development, student group advising, and student leadership development.

Additional Information:

Salary: $53,379. -$60,000/year, exempt. Excellent benefits package, including medical and dental insurance, paid vacation and sick leave, and NYS retirement.
