Position Description:

Full-time. Provide long-range and day-to-day administration of the Jamestown Community College Foundation. Responsible for planning, organizing, and directing a modern, progressive, and comprehensive foundation including but not limited to major gifts, annual giving, alumni engagement, employee giving, director/trustee giving, and state and federal grants; enhance the long-term financial health of the foundation; amplify donor recognition; broadcast foundation activity; build on the success of the Foundation with an eye toward the future. Work in collaboration with the JCC president, the president’s cabinet, local foundations, and the college community.

Essential Functions:

  • Leads the development and implementation of a comprehensive, future-focused foundation strategy for JCC; maximizes resources and improves the financial stability and predictability of foundation funds.
  • Ensures the foundation strategy includes well-defined and reasonable stretch goals for major gifts, annual giving, alumni engagement/giving, employee giving, director and trustee giving, and oversight of a plan to pursue federal and state grants aligned with the JCC strategic plan.
  • Serves as the lead point of contact with external agencies and partners (public, private, for-profit, non-profit) on all Foundation-related matters.
  • Leverages giving to JCC around significant anniversaries, e.g., 75th.
  • Develops relationships with the JCC constituency base.
  • Establishes a calendar prior to each academic year that includes fundraising activities, mailings, alumni and donor events, and other special events and publications.
  • Builds and strengthens relationships with local foundations, the JCC Foundation Board of Directors, the JCC Alumni Board, and the JCC Board of Trustees.
  • Meets with and cultivates prospects/constituents to ask for contributions to the college aligned with the strategic plan; works with board of directors on prospect development.
  • Collaborates with the Marketing Team to develop materials that detail the endowment needs of the college. Long-term goal is to build the foundation to $50 million.
  • Attends college and community functions to establish relationships with constituents and potential donors.
  • Assists in the development of and administers the annual operating budget for the Foundation.
  • Develops strategies and approaches to generate increasing levels of giving.
  • Forges relationships with donors and cultivates annual donors to perpetuate their giving through planned gifts.
  • Prospects by making personal calls on donors (and their financial advisors, if willing) year around to ensure a growing base of support.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required: Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field. Individual must possess a minimum of five (5) years combined leadership experience in a management capacity with a complex organization involving a significant number of people and organizations with diverse and varied interests and backgrounds. Must have at least three (3) years fundraising, non-profit management, or related experience.

Demonstrated ability to: lead and motivate groups and individuals, think creatively and strategically to successfully mediate and negotiate with individuals and groups internally and externally, overcome obstacles to cooperation and to foster harmonious relations, balance competing priorities, complex situations and tight deadlines. Proven fundraising, leadership and consensus-building skills. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills. Commitment to providing excellent customer service, problem-solving, budget management, supervisory, and organizational skills. Must be involved in the community.

Additional Information:

Salary: $80,000 - $105,000. Excellent benefits package, including medical and dental insurance, paid vacation and sick leave, and NYS retirement.
